HEAVY HAULAGE – 300 Metric Tons of Steel on the Move – 20 and 18 meters long are the two industrial furnaces that the Austrian freight carrier Felbermayr is to transport from a ship berth on the Danube to an aircraft component company. The total weight of both furnaces of a good 300 tons is only one of many problems. The steel colossuses are almost seven meters high – too high to pass through most bridges or tunnels. An unsolvable undertaking?
