A supermoon, known as the ‘strawberry moon’, glowed across the skies of Istanbul in Turkey on Thursday (June 24)

It’s called a ‘strawberry moon’ because it can be spotted at the start of fruit season and signals the beginning of summer. The name however doesn’t necessarily imply the Moon is red, though it does appear a reddish colour when rising or setting.

The moon looked breathtaking as it was shining above Camlica Mosque and other buildings across Istanbul. This Strawberry Moon also marks the fourth and last supermoon of 2021.
